The Ultimate Guide to My Favourite Food & Cafés in Lytton Park and Midtown Toronto

Introduction: Why Midtown Toronto is a Food Lover’s Paradise

When people think about Toronto’s dining scene, their minds often drift downtown—to King West, Queen Street, or Ossington. But for those who know, Midtown Toronto is where the culinary magic really shines. It’s a neighbourhood where world-class restaurants and beloved local cafés live side by side, shaping not just how we eat, but how we live.

Midtown dining is about lifestyle. It’s grabbing a croissant on your way to the office, meeting friends for brunch in a stylish trattoria, indulging in a Brazilian steakhouse feast, or winding down with a cozy burger joint that feels like home. It’s this combination of diversity, quality, and accessibility that makes the neighbourhood such a special place to live and eat.

As someone who calls Midtown home, I’ve built daily rhythms and lasting memories around these restaurants and cafés. They’re more than places to eat—they’re places that define the community.

If you’re wondering where to eat in Midtown Toronto, this is your ultimate guide. These are my personal favourites, the spots I return to again and again because they consistently deliver. From casual cafés to indulgent dining rooms, here’s my personal list of the 20 best restaurants and cafés in Midtown Toronto.

1. Stock T.C. – Midtown’s All-Day Dining Landmark

Stock T.C. is more than a restaurant—it’s an institution at Yonge and Eglinton. The main floor houses a gourmet marketplace full of fresh breads, artisanal goods, and takeaway meals. It’s my go-to stop for a latte and croissant before a busy morning.

Head upstairs to Stock Bar and the atmosphere shifts. With sleek interiors, ambient lighting, and city views, it’s the perfect backdrop for an elevated lunch or dinner. The menu is Italian-inspired: wood-fired pizzas, handmade pastas, premium steaks, and an impressive seafood lineup. Their carbonara is outstanding, and the burrata starter never misses.

Come summer, the rooftop patio is where Midtown comes alive—an Aperol Spritz in hand, panoramic views, and that signature hum of Yonge Street below.

Why I love it: Stock T.C. embodies Midtown life: convenient, versatile, and always stylish. Whether you need lunch, brunch, or dinner, this place has what you need.

2. Oretta Midtown – Where Italian Elegance Meets Brunch Bliss

Oretta is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. With its soaring arches, terrazzo floors, and blush-pink palette, it feels like you’ve stepped into Milan.

The food is just as beautiful. Handmade pasta like Tagliatelle Bolognese or Cacio e Pepe are rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying. Their wood-fired pizzas are airy and crisp, topped with the freshest seasonal ingredients.

Brunch here is a Midtown tradition—Oretta Toast and Frittata are local favourites, and their Aperitivo Hour offers Negronis and cicchetti that transport you straight to Italy.
